Andre Marquette Lott (born May 31, 1979 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American football strong safety most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. He is now a free agent. He played college football at the University of Tennessee and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. Lott is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Early career[]
Lott started his playing days as a multi-sport student athlete. He attended Sherwood Junior High in Memphis, Tennessee where he played football, basketball, and track. While at Sherwood, he won several city championships in football and track.
After junior high, Lott attended Melrose High School in Orange Mound, Tennessee. While attending Melrose, Lott won state championships in football as well as track. Lott's relay team set a record in the 4 X 200 and 4 x 100. And later set another record in the 4 x 200 two years later.
Professional career[]
Lott was drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He has also played for the San Diego Chargers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
University of Tennessee[]
Lott currently is an intern coach for the Hardin County High School, in Savannah, Tennessee. two daughters, Ella Grace and Ana Lou.
Andre Lott became the newest addition to the staff on Wednesday, taking over the newly created position of Vol for Life/Character Education coordinator — one of Dooley’s top priorities since taking over the program in January.
“Hiring Andre to coordinate our VFL program is one of the many steps we have taken to reshape our culture into one that produces not only great players and great teams, but more importantly, greater men,” Dooley said in a release. “Andre represents everything it means to be a ‘Vol for Life.’
