The 1971 BC Lions finished in fourth place in the West Division with a 6–9–1 record and failed to make the playoffs.

The Lions wore special logos on their helmets to celebrate British Columbia's Canadian Confederation Centennial. The logo was three "C"'s with the Pacific Dogwood in the middle.
